The capital of South Tyrol has preserved many old traditions, which now mix with modern lifestyle, creating a very special atmosphere. Here, stroll through the historic streets or visit the Museion. The Archaeological Museum is also highly recommended, where visitors can trace the footsteps of Ötzi.

Merano – well-known spa town

In Merano, guests can expect not only a spectacular mountain backdrop, but also a popular Mediterranean climate. Visit the famous Sissi Castle Trauttmansdorff or the modern thermal baths, and then stroll along the Passer promenade, where you can enjoy the remarkable flora.

Bressanone – Medieval Episcopal Town

Brixen exudes medieval flair, and is especially well known for its arcades. The cathedral with its cloister, dating back to the 14th century, is also well worth seeing.

Romantic Place – Sand in Taufers

Romantics are drawn to the small village of Sand in Taufers, through which a picturesque stream flows. Here, one can enjoy the peace and quiet, or hike to the famous Reinbach waterfalls.

Famous natural jewel - Lake Prags

South Tyrol is home to numerous impressive lakes, one of the most famous and beautiful being Lake Prags, located in the Prags Dolomites between Toblach and Bruneck. According to legend, the lake is said to have served as a gateway to the underworld, leading to the "Realm of the Fanes."

A must for mountaineers - Rosengarten Group

The imposing mountain range "Rosengarten" is located between the Fassa Valley and the Tiers Valley and is a total of eight kilometers long. The highest peak is the Kesselkogel, which is 3004 meters above sea level and can be reached via a climbing route.

Churburg - Impressive collection of knight's armor

A visit to Churburg is also a must when staying in South Tyrol. Here, you can admire the Renaissance-era arcades, the documents and crusader hall, as well as the famous collection of various knight's armors.

Exploring the Waalwege

Also typical of South Tyrol are the Waalwege, also known as the "lifelines of the fruit growers," as they used to supply the farms with water. Today, it is worth taking a walk along the paths, mainly found in the Vinschgau, to enjoy the dreamlike landscape and idyllic scenery.

Worthwhile ascent - Säben Monastery

High above Klausen, the Säben Monastery perches, only accessible on foot and is one of the oldest pilgrimage sites in South Tyrol. The nuns live in very strict seclusion but are also very happy to care for pilgrims.

Popular excursion destination - Earth pyramids in Ritten

Visitors to Ritten, the local mountain of Bolzano, can witness a very spectacular natural spectacle, where the up to 20-meter-high earth pyramids can be admired. The pyramids have a stone that looks like a hat and protects the clayey material.
