Many choose the holiday destination Tyrol for a hiking trip, but the Austrian federal state also has numerous well-known ski resorts and cultural attractions. In the following overview you will find the most popular Tyrolean travel destinations:

2. Ahornboden

In the midst of the Karwendel Mountains lies the famous Ahornboden, which can be reached via a fantastically beautiful toll road. The Ahornboden is an alpine meadow on which around 2000 maple trees grow, some of which are up to 600 years old. In addition, hikes to the Falkenhütte, Lamsenjochhütte or Binsalm start from here.

2. Wolfsklamm

Above Stans, the deeply incised Wolfsklamm begins at about 600 meters altitude, which can only be walked on a footbridge. Sometimes bridges also lead over the impressive gorge, from which spectacular views open up. The gorge has a total length of 500 meters, and when you arrive at the end, you still have the opportunity to hike to the St. Georgenberg Monastery.

3. Achensee

On the edge of the Karwendel Nature Park lies the popular Achensee, which is up to 100 meters deep in some places. Around the lake, guests will also find numerous well-known holiday resorts such as Achenkirch, Pertisau or Maurach, from where visitors can take the Rofanseilbahn to the Berghaus Rofan or the Erfurter Hütte.

4. Innsbruck

A visit to the state capital Innsbruck should not be missed when traveling to Tyrol. Here you have the opportunity to admire the Golden Roof, stroll through the picturesque old town, or take the Nordkettenbahn to the Hafelekar mountain station to enjoy the fascinating panorama of the surrounding mountains from there.

5. Swarowski Crystal Worlds

A sparkling world of experience awaits visitors in Wattens. They are greeted by an impressive giant created by André Heller, then they enter five grandiose wonder chambers and can let the unique art installations in the extensive park landscape take effect on them. The centerpiece of the garden is a cloud made up of 800,000 Swarovski crystals.

6. Kufstein Fortress

The Kufstein Fortress can look back on an extremely turbulent history, which was first mentioned in 1205. Today, this is where theater or concert events take place. The Heroes' Organ in the Bürgerturm, which is considered the world's largest free organ, is also very worth seeing.

7. Museum of Tyrolean Farms

In the Museum of Tyrolean Farms, visitors immerse themselves in rural life, and exciting experience stations await the little guests, who learn how a wooden house is built or a cow is milked. There is also a special exhibition that deals with the topics of rule, society, economy, and landscape.

8. Adlerweg

The Adlerweg is a unique hiking trail that spreads out like the wings of an eagle between the Arlberg and St. Johann. It is a total of 280 km long and consists of 31 partial stages, on which you can immerse yourself in Tyrolean customs and history.

9. Aurach Wildlife Park

In the midst of a beautiful landscape lies Tyrol's largest open-air enclosure, the Aurach Wildlife Park, where visitors encounter lynxes, ibexes, mouflons, or red deer, among other animals. A hiking trail leads through the enclosure, and there is also a large adventure playground for the little visitors.

10. Schwaz Silver Mine

Around 1500, the Schwaz Silver Mine was the world's largest mining metropolis, where the coveted argentiferous lead was mined. With the mine train, visitors can enter the mine and then immerse themselves in the history of mining.
