Have the most important remedies in your own luggage

No matter where you go - to the Swiss mountains or the Spanish beach, to Dublin or Bologna, to Tyrol or South Tyrol - a child-friendly first aid kit is one of the most important items of luggage when you want to show the world to your offspring.

Active children often forget in the midst of play that they can also get hurt. Exciting adventures on the playground or in the forest can quickly lead to something happening - even if it's just a scrape. Sometimes your own equipment is sufficient and a trip to the doctor can be avoided. However, careful precaution is necessary.
Below we have listed the most important components of a travel first aid kit for children for you:

  • Adhesive plasters in different sizes, also waterproof
  • Bandaging material such as gauze bandages, elastic bandages, sterile compresses and definitely also scissors to be able to cut to the right length.
  • Disinfectant and disinfectant wipes
  • Wound cream
  • Medication for motion sickness, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Electrolyte powder in case of drastic fluid loss, as can occur with diarrhea. Essential minerals are lost. Their replacement is particularly important.
  • Thermometer
  • Fever-reducing agents with paracetamol. Suppositories can quickly soften in high heat and become unusable. In this case, a fever syrup is usually the better choice.
  • Medication for colds and sore throats
  • Medication for itching and allergic reactions
  • Nose drops, eye drops, ear drops - children quickly get an ear infection.
  • Painkillers that are lower in dosage and specifically suitable for children
  • Sunscreen - here too, attention must be paid to child-friendliness. Their skin is thinner and more sensitive than that of an adult and requires a higher sun protection factor. For babies and young children, this would be about SPF 50. In addition, the sunscreen should also protect against UVA and UVB rays.
  • Moisturizing lotion to apply after the child has been in the sun. Also a cream for treating sunburn.
  • Cooling gel in case of bruises and strains - think of the playground or sports activities.
  • Insect repellent and medication for treating insect bites. Here too, caution is advised and a product should be chosen that is suitable for sensitive children's skin.
  • Tweezers for removing splinters and thorns, as well as a tick remover, which unlike tweezers does not tear off the tick's head.
  • All of the child's long-term medications that are also taken in everyday life. It's best to plan about a third more than is expected to be needed. Just to be on the safe side.

In addition to storing it in a child-safe manner, the first aid kit should always be stored protected from light and away from any heat.
