460 meters of altitude / 5h
This wonderful snowshoe hike takes you through a natural jewel known as the Kaunergrat Nature Park, which is highly regarded by plant and animal lovers.
The nature park region extends to the main Alpine ridge and includes the Pitztal, the Kaunertal, and parts of the Inn Valley. Here you will find a particularly worthy natural and cultural landscape to protect – the park region has the highest proportion of originally preserved cultural landscape in Tyrol, all local businesses operate according to strict guidelines of organic farming. You can also observe chamois in the wild here.
The snowshoe tour starts at Feigwasser, between Pillerhöhe and Falpaus, at an altitude of 1,540 meters and is supposed to take us to the Aifner Alm. There are naturally not too many opportunities to park the car here. Then you gently direct your steps through high meadows. The first stage destinations are the Harbe Weiher (an idyllically located irrigation pond) and the Kalkofenegg. Soon a forest road appears, which you follow for a while before it goes into the forest and to the Görfemoor.
The next stage is already the Aifner Alm. Once you have reached the destination at an altitude of almost 2,000 meters, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Kaunergrat, the Inn Valley, the Samnaun group, and the Lechtal limestone Alps.
The descent follows the known path – namely along the ascent route.
In the course of this relatively easy nature park hike, 460 meters of altitude are covered. You should plan for about 4.5 to 5 hours in terms of time. Since this is an animal protection area, please always pay attention to signs indicating restricted areas. These should not be entered under any circumstances in order not to scare the wildlife.
