600 meters of altitude / 3h
The Walderalm is situated at an altitude of 1,500 meters and blends in a particularly charming way into the mountain idyll in front of the Karwendel mountain ranges.

You start the tour at the Kranzach parking lot in the village of St. Michael. Follow the village road past the houses, following the signs to the Walderalm. Past the sports field and then a crossroads is already waiting for you. Here you choose the Walderalmweg, which only rises slightly and leads you northwest to the Klammbach bridge.

The difficulty level increases a little now – from now on there are several hairpin bends to manage, after which you will come across open forest areas. At an altitude of 1,430 meters, you finally have the opportunity to leave the path and switch to the open meadow, over which you head north to a path cross and continue on a flat stretch to the Walderalm. Alternatively, you can continue to follow the Walderalmweg. After about 50 meters of altitude, this meets the Hinterhornalm path. From here it's again on a flat stretch eastwards, and soon you can see the huts of the Walderalm.

A stop is highly recommended. In addition to various breads, soups, and sausages, they also serve Wiener Schnitzel or a special specialty – the homemade Kaspressknödel according to a secret family recipe. Special emphasis is placed on the use of regional, fresh products for all dishes. In winter, it is usually open from Thursday to Sunday.

If you don't immediately feel like heading back to the valley after the refreshment, you can insert a round around the alm in the Sölenböden. Once you have said goodbye, the return journey initially follows the same route. After crossing the Klammbach bridge, you can take the southward forest trail, which also leads you back to the starting point.

This easy hiking tour is also very suitable for beginners. The approximately 600 meters of altitude can be managed in about 3 hours.
