The Drau Cycle Path, which passes directly by here, is enriched with a new attraction, as an impressive water adventure park has been set up here, which offers the right place to stay for children, athletes, and also for those who are simply looking for relaxation. The entry point is the water show path. Here you enter the water kingdom, move over rock formations and along breathtakingly high wooden bridges. Through the forest and over the rushing stream with its roaring cascades. A spectacular experience for young and older adventurers.
Galitzenklamm (Gorge)
Soon you will hear the rattling wheels of the so-called stone ball mill, which are set in motion by the power of water and thus perform their service day in and day out. And that is to grind natural stones found in the stream bed into round balls. This construction used to be used for the production of cannonballs. Today, the balls that are created in this way are offered for sale - a unique souvenir that looks good in the front yard or on the desk. In any case, nature here once again shows its stone-softening potential in an absolutely impressive way. In addition, this is the only stone ball mill in southern Austria.
Climbing for connoisseurs and masochists
Naturally, the mighty rock formations and the unparalleled view of the Lienz Dolomites also entice you to go climbing. And you can do that here - no matter what climbing level you prefer. The difficulty levels of the local via ferratas range from very easy to professional level. One of the most difficult via ferratas in Austria (level E) is waiting to get your adrenaline pumping. The "Götterquergang" (levels C and D) with breathtaking views of all the waterfalls of the Galitzen Gorge, as well as the partially overhanging rock passage, which unmistakably catches your attention with its name "The Masochist" (levels C, D, and partially E), have also specialized in getting the blood of climbers flowing.
Higher than the forest goblins
Those who prefer trees and forests to rocks will find their territory in the forest rope park. Here too, there are different difficult courses that lead through the treetops. Ropes, wooden ladders, wobbly beams, and floating carriers must be overcome here without fear of heights. And in the end, a 25-meter long flying fox is waiting to give the little adventurers the feeling of flying.
A bit more leisurely, but no less fun, is the water playground. Here, the little ones can really let off steam and cool down - because the wet element is also the focus here. Whether it's the rolling ferry, the water play labyrinth, the swinging bridge, or the mud pool - here, heartfelt children's laughter and lived joy dominate.
And because all the movement inevitably also attracts hunger, the quaint snack station at the foot of the forest rope park keeps its doors wide open for you to the guest garden and the cozy parlor. The kitchen already smells tempting, and after so much action and physical activity, a enjoyable replenishment of reserves is more than legitimate.
The Galitzen Gorge is only a few minutes' drive from the Lienz town center and, of course, is also easily accessible by bicycle due to the bike path. A visitor parking lot is available. The water adventure park is usually open from May to October.
