The WildeWasserWeg in the Stubai Valley is a total of ten kilometers long and its three stages were designed against the flow of the water. The star of the tour is the WildeWasser Arena, which is located in Ranalt. Here there are numerous places to linger as well as information about the importance of water in the Stubai Valley. The path then runs up the valley and right at the beginning the Ruetz Katarakt, a gorge, must be overcome. Here, hikers are surrounded by roaring masses of water, and two platforms hanging over the abyss show the power of the stream. After the Katarakt, you reach the Tschangelair Alm, where you can take a break before heading to the Grawa Waterfall. The first section is completely barrier-free and can therefore also be walked by visitors with strollers.
Nature in the Stubai Valley: Along the Stubai Wild Water Trail
The Grawa Waterfall is a fantastic natural spectacle that delights numerous visitors every year. Furthermore, it also has a health-promoting effect, as scientific studies have shown. Hiking combined with regular stays at the waterfall can improve air quality and upper respiratory tract. The wooden loungers on the platform at the foot of the waterfall are perfect for this. Finally, the path continues to a high plateau or to the picturesque Sulzenaualm. With a view of the Sulzenaufall, the mountain enthusiasts hike to the Sulzenauhütte, but you can also take a break at the Grawa Alm and then reach the water on a circular path that starts at the Raffein Galerie.
Natural Glacier Paths
The last stage of the path leads from the Sulzenauhütte to the Sulzenauferner, where nature has created a glacier educational trail. With a view of the Zuckerhütl and the Sulzenauferner, you walk through the varied landscape and pass by blue mountain lakes and huge moraine lakes. Finally, hikers reach a glacier lake, which lies below the Peiljoch. There, the WildeWasser emerges for the first time and begins its journey into the valley.
Unusual Events
The unique landscape of the WildeWasserWeg is of course also suitable for various events such as the Genuss-Wandernächte, which take place on July 29, 2016 at the Ruetz Katarakt and on August 12, 2016 at the Grawa Waterfall. The hikers then walk the paths at night and can gather very enjoyable impressions in this way. This includes both the illuminated natural spectacles and culinary delights prepared by the Stubaier Genussbetrieben.
