Apple Strudel Recipe

The apple strudel, the most widespread type of strudel.

Ingredients dough for apple strudel:

  • 500 g flour
  • 250 g butter or margarine
  • 170 g sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 egg
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • ? lemon (lemon zest)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 cl rum
  •  
  • Ingredients filling:

  • 10 apples
  • small teaspoon cinnamon
  • large tablespoon sugar
  • 2 cl rum
  • 30 g white bread crumbs
  • 40 g pine nuts
  • 30 g raisins

Stir butter or margarine with sugar. Add egg yolks, egg, lemon zest, pinch of salt, packet of vanilla sugar and the rum and mix everything. Stir the flour into the mixture and divide it into two equal parts and let it rest at +4 degrees Celsius for half an hour.
In the meantime, you can peel the apples, core them and cut them into slices. Season with cinnamon, sugar, rum, raisins, pine nuts and white bread crumbs.
Roll out the dough to 50 X 35cm, place the filling in the middle and fold over both sides. Place on the baking tray, brush with egg yolk and bake at 180° C for 30 to 35 minutes.
