Enchanting Backdrop

The holiday resort offers a very beautiful panorama: it is surrounded by the mountains Heiligkreuzkofel, Gardenaccia, Lagazuoi, Conturines and La Varela, whose peaks rise over two thousand, sometimes even over three thousand meters in height. Abtei is located in the two nature parks Fanes-Sennes-Prags and Puez-Geisler, which enchant with beautiful mountain lakes. The former is particularly impressive due to the so-called Plätzwiese at an altitude of 2000 meters - the everyday stress is quickly forgotten in this setting.

Looking for something more active?

But the view of the Dolomites not only encourages relaxing walks and picnics outdoors, but also sporting activities: for example, the mountains are very suitable for mountain biking or longer hikes. It is recommended to explore the Lagazuoi, where tunnels and trenches from the First World War can be visited. The magnificent view also compensates for any effort of the ascent. For those who are not so good on foot, they can comfortably ride up with the cable car.

Sights

For culturally interested holidaymakers, a visit to the birthplace of P. Josef Freinademetz is an experience. The building is located in Oies and is the former home of a canonized Catholic religious. Also worth seeing is the pilgrimage church Heiligkreuz, to which many believers, some from far away, pilgrimage every year. In and around Badia there are also numerous historical buildings, such as the chapel "Our Lady" in Pescoll or the Lourdes chapel in Stern, which are worth seeing not only for religious people.

In Badia there are numerous hotels for every requirement. To enjoy a great view, you should definitely secure a room with a balcony. It is also essential to try South Tyrolean delicacies, such as South Tyrolean bacon or cheese from the region.
