La Valle in Val Badia

La Valle / Wengen is a 1300-inhabitant municipality in Alta Badia. It is the smallest village in the holiday region and particularly suitable for a relaxing holiday. The village is located at the foot of the Kreuzkofel and not far from the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, which invites you to leisurely walks in nature. The large cattle drive also takes place here annually.

The Dolomites are also ideal for hiking and cycling - depending on your level of ability, you can choose the right route. Nearby are the famous Armentara meadows, a nature reserve. Here you can admire 197 different species of flowers and over 60 species of birds.

In winter, the nearby ski areas Kronplatz, Alta Badia, and the Sella Ronda are ideal for skiing, a ski tour around the Sella massif. Professionals and beginners alike have fun on the slopes, as there is the right level of difficulty for everyone. In addition to skiing, there is also the opportunity for snowboarding, tobogganing, or ice skating.

Preserving tradition

La Valle / Wengen is a very quiet, traditional little village. This is also evident in the fact that most of the residents can still speak Ladin. La Valle / Wengen even holds a record in South Tyrol: it is the municipality with the highest proportion of Ladin-speaking people. The residents also like to perform traditional music - so there are many choirs and folk music groups in La Valle / Wengen. The village exudes a very quaint and homely atmosphere. The typical Ladin wooden houses are picturesque. Many guesthouses are also built in this style. As a tourist, you have various options for accommodation: a stay in a comfortable hotel is just as recommended as a farm holiday. The latter is particularly an experience for families with children. In La Valle / Wengen, there is certainly the right accommodation for every preference.

Buildings worth seeing

If you are interested in culture, you should not miss the following sights: the "Viles", old rural hamlets with a nostalgic flair, the cemetery chapel, one of the oldest buildings in the Gadertal, the oratory with remarkable frescoes, and the parish church. Inside the church is a very precious altar. After a half-hour hike, you will reach the Barbara Chapel: the Gothic building is located on a hill above the village and dates back to 1471.

In La Valle / Wengen, you have the opportunity for relaxing days, but sightseeing is also not neglected.
