Located in the heart of Tramin, it paints a lively picture of home, a region characterized by linguistic and cultural diversity. Nestled in a historic residence that over the centuries transformed from a 15th and 16th century bathhouse into a domicile for Catholic clergy before opening its doors as a museum in 1989. A comprehensive redesign in 2012 enriched the museum with a third floor and brought fresh air into the presentation of its collections.
Under the patronage of the Association for Culture and Heritage Conservation, the museum offers insights into past ways of life, with an impressive collection of tools and equipment from old, sometimes extinct crafts as well as peasant artifacts. Special attention is given to the depiction of work in the vineyards and the equipment needed for it, tracing the evolution of wine production from the 1960s to the present. Of outstanding importance are the Egetmann parade, a traditional carnival festivity that takes place every two years, and the Gewürztraminer, a renowned white wine that owes its name to the village of Tramin and whose history and diversity are honored in the museum.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, special exhibitions and cultural events enhance the museum's offerings, making it a vibrant center of encounter and cultural exchange. The Hoamet Tramin Museum is easy to find, located on Mindelheimerstraße, not far from the town hall square, with good parking facilities and a bus stop nearby.
