Golf Club Appiano – The Blue Monster

Here, in Unterrain near Eppan, a landscape symphony of green and blue awaits you, as renowned Golf Course Architect Thomas C. Himmel has created a very special place on a plain in the Überetscher Auen. This is called “The Blue Monster” and stands out from other facilities by the fact that an unusually large number of water areas were planned here. Now you also know where the name comes from.

This rich abundance of water is on the one hand an important contribution to the ecological character of the region, on the other hand, the liquid obstacles also represent a charming challenge for experienced players. Small lakes and waterways increase the level of difficulty and ensure highly exciting games in which you must demonstrate your pronounced technical talent. This is a special incentive for many professional golfers to take their golf bags out and swing the various woods, putters, and irons over the grass. Special attention is paid to the risk-reward game, which is based on strategy and high risk – you can quickly score high points, but also quickly incur penalty points. And always remember that water can quickly become decisive in the game.

But even less experienced players and beginners do not need to feel embarrassed thanks to the spacious plain (over 10,000 square meters of green) and can also work on their handicap here. The widely dimensioned fairways allow for easy maneuvering on the generously designed bailouts. The thoughtful architecture creates a versatility that caters to all levels of play.

The blue monster was opened in 2015 as a 9-hole facility and is therefore one of the youngest and most modern golf courses in South Tyrol. Located on the famous South Tyrolean Wine Road, surrounded by lovely scented apple orchards and green mountains, the Golf Club Eppan not only serves as a refuge for waterfowl and floating residents in the cool water, but also brings the golfer's soul into a natural state of deep relaxation. The practice facilities include a driving range with partially covered tees, putting green, chipping green, pitching green, and sand bunkers. Apart from club members, guests are also welcome, but must register and show their handicap.

In the clubhouse, in addition to the secretariat, you will also find sanitary facilities, a small pro shop to help you complete your equipment, and at the bar there are small snacks and drinks to keep the golfer's stomach in good spirits. From spring 2017, the new clubhouse with an elegant lodge, grill restaurant, and sports bar will provide exquisite flair.
