Those who opt for a snowshoe hike through the Tschamintal valley choose a particularly close encounter with the untouched nature of South Tyrol.
In the Tierser Tal, behind the Hotel Cyprianerhof, the wild and romantic hiking adventure begins - first over the Traunwiesen to a forest road that leads you to the beginning of the Tschamintal (1,380 meters altitude).
As soon as you come across the "Schwarze Lettn", you can take a hearty sip for refreshment. This natural spring is characterized by high water quality. Soon the initial width of the trodden path decreases, a wooden bridge is crossed and you have arrived at the first hut of this hike - the "Schaferleger". From the hut, an increasing incline awaits you, but keep the next goal in mind - namely the next hut, the "Rechten Leger". On the inviting mountain meadow in the heart of the Tschamintal valley, you can enjoy the particularly impressive view of the Tschamin peaks and the Grasleiten towers.
If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic spot of nature, keep an eye out for the forest road that leads you through the Tschamin forest. Follow the gentle curves of the Tschamin stream on its left side. You are now on the other side of the valley, but you will return exactly to the starting point of this small journey through nature. Alternatively, and if the amount of snow allows, you can also manage the way back via the Tschaminschwaige.
The 12 hiking kilometers of this easy to moderate snowshoe tour take about 4 hours of your time. A good investment in physical fitness, with about 600 meters of altitude covered.
Since you are here in the Schlern-Rosengarten nature park, please be especially considerate of the inhabitants of the forest and meadows and behave like a guest in the lap of nature.
