Ingredients:

  • 250 g spaghetti or another type of pasta of your choice
  • 300 g ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 stalk of celery, diced
  • 1 can (400 g) chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 pinch of sugar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta: Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of salted water according to the instructions on the package until they are al dente. Drain the pasta and set it aside.

  2. Prepare the meat sauce: Heat some olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the diced onion, chopped garlic, diced carrot, and diced celery stalk. Fry the vegetables for about 5-7 minutes until they are soft.

  3. Add the ground beef and fry it until it is brown and crumbly.

  4. Add the tomato paste and briefly fry it with the meat and vegetables to roast it.

  5. Add the chopped tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, and a pinch of sugar (if desired). Season with salt and pepper.

  6. Reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will make the sauce thick and flavorful.

  7. Serve: Distribute the cooked spaghetti on plates and top with the meat sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
