Lake Radl is an idyllic mountain lake at an altitude of 2,250 meters, which is especially appreciated for its seclusion and tranquility. In addition, hikers can enjoy a fascinating panorama of the surrounding mountains from here.
Fabulous South Tyrol: The Radlsee
However, numerous myths also surround the charming mountain lake: for example, it is said to swallow wheels and give birth to goats, another legend claims that it should be connected underground to the Durnholzer See or to the Mediterranean Sea. An old soothsayer is even said to have predicted the outbreak of the lake and the downfall of Brixen. Therefore, in the past, a Holy Mass was read every week in Brixen to avert this evil. The name "Radlsee" comes from the fact that once a wagon wheel was thrown into the Dürnholzer See, which lies three hours away from Lake Radl, and this wheel appeared after some time suddenly in Lake Radl out of the water.
