Holiday in Tyrolean Ausserfern

From the district capital Reutte, the natural Lechtal leads west towards Vorarlberg. In the south, the Lechtal Alps and in the north, the Allgäu Alps border the wild and romantic valley. The river of the same name, the Lech, is largely undeveloped in the Tyrolean Ausserfern and offers an incomparable natural spectacle. Away from mass tourism, you can enjoy extremely relaxing holidays in the Lechtal and its side valleys.

In the Allgäu Alps, more precisely in the Tannheimer Mountains, lies the beautiful Tannheim Valley. This high valley branches off near the village of Weißenbach in the Lechtal and leads over the Gaichtpass and the Haldensee to the Oberjochpass in Bavaria.

There is something for every vacationer. The wild and romantic Lechtal is a popular starting point for hikes, mountain tours, climbing tours, rafting tours, and of course mountain bike or bike tours. In the Lechtal, hiking buses are even free for owners of the Lechtal guest card. From June 10th to October 7th, you can use public transport throughout the valley for free - a convincing offer!

One of the most scenic and extraordinarily interesting summer sports regions is the area around the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena and Berwang with the Berwang Valley. Eight crystal-clear Alpine lakes, healthy mountain air, and a huge range of leisure activities attract summer vacationers for unforgettable, relaxing holidays. A petting zoo and a summer toboggan run have been specially built for children. On hot summer days, the bathing lakes invite you to take a dip in the cold water.

At Lake Vilsalp, in the nature reserve of the Tannheimer High Valley, even less experienced hikers can enjoy the beauty of the natural mountain landscape. Enjoy the unforgettable walk around the deep blue Vilsalpsee, surrounded by mountains, and breathe in the healthy mountain air.

Tip

The "Cultural Gorge" in Elbigenalp (Bernhardsschlucht) is regularly the venue for concerts and theater performances. At the foot of a fascinating rock formation, you will discover the "Geierwally Open-Air Stage", which is usable in all weather conditions thanks to the flexible roof. Atmospheric images await you through special lighting effects!

Winter: Skiing and snowboarding in the Hahnenkamm Reutte ski area

The small but fine ski area with seven lifts and 13 km of excellently groomed slopes presents itself as the ideal family and beginner ski area. In this holiday region, the Hahnenkamm is undisputedly the number one ski mountain. Even in less cold winters, there is enough snow for relaxed skiing and snowboarding fun.

An increasing group of vacationers is also interested in alternative activities, such as snowshoeing over deep snow-covered alpine meadows, horse-drawn sleigh rides, sledding in a fantastically wintry environment, or winter hiking on cleared paths. The holiday region in the Tyrolean Ausserfern offers a large extra portion of snow fun!

Tip:
In the Tiroler Lech Nature Park, nature park guides offer interesting activities: from animal track hiking to igloo building as part of an "Eskimo afternoon", there is much to discover and enjoy. A nocturnal winter hike through the silence of nature with lanterns in hand up to the ruins of Ehrenberg is one of the particularly beautiful holiday experiences.
