Summer joys and winter fairy tales

Vacation in the Pitztal

This popular holiday region is located in the district of Imst in Tyrol and stretches for 40 kilometers as a side branch of the Inn Valley. Specifically, the valley consists of the front Pitztal, the back Pitztal, and the Pitztaler Glacier/Rifflsee. All 3 areas are recommended as ideal holiday destinations in both summer and winter.

Sporty holidaymakers hop on their bikes or explore the surroundings on numerous hiking trails. For young and young at heart, there are also well-known events in the Pitztal every year, such as the Jerzner Ski Opening or "Fire and Ice" - events where fun and musical entertainment are not neglected. In spring, a city stroll in the nearby towns of Landeck and Imst or the Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck, famous for the "Golden Roof", is recommended. Absolute snow reliability and numerous ski areas in winter, as well as many hours of sunshine in summer, make the region the perfect holiday destination 365 days a year.

Skiing fun in winter

Those looking for unique skiing pleasure will certainly find it in the Tyrolean Pitztal. The three ski areas, Jerzens (Hochzeiger Bergbahnen), Rifflsee Bergbahnen, and the famous Pitztaler Glacier, are just waiting to be conquered by diligent skiers and fast snowboarders. And the statistics live up to their promise: 68km of immaculately groomed slopes, a variety of 41km of downhill variants, and 12km of alpine cross-country ski trails that offer a view of the magnificent alpine surroundings. All of this is offered by the Pitztaler Glacier area alone. In addition, the ski areas offer "snow guarantee". Here, you can ski and enjoy yourself without worry from September to May.

A special highlight for young and old: the ride with the "Pitzexpress". The "subway" in the middle of the Alps takes skiers through the Mittagskogel in just a few minutes. Then it continues with Austria's highest cable car, the Pitz Panoramabahn. It takes its passengers up to 3440 meters above sea level.

Ski tourers also get their money's worth in the Pitztal, as the valley is known for its impressive ski tours in winter. Enthusiastic ski tourers are drawn to the Hochzeiger ski area, the Pitztaler Glacier, or the Kaunergrat Nature Park year after year to hike over snow-covered slopes. The nature then shows itself from its most beautiful side, and the view of the imposing mountain world rewards all the efforts and exertions of the ascent. A ski tour to the Wildspitze (3774 meters) with a subsequent descent over the Taschachferner is considered the ultimate discipline and is only for experienced ski tourers.

Hiking pleasure in summer

When temperatures climb to 30 degrees and more, many holidaymakers are drawn to the mountains. Here, too, you will find many shade-providing trees and cool forests where you can retreat. Numerous hiking trails delight every active holidaymaker. The selection of recreational areas is large: Riegtal, Hochzeiger, Pitztaler Glacier, or Kaunergrat Nature Park. On well-signposted hiking trails, you can discover the treasures of nature here. Those who visit the Kaunergrat Nature Park are best off starting at the Nature Park House. It is the heart of the nature park and is a meeting point and information center at the same time. On the wonderful terrace, you can fortify yourself once again while deciding on one of the numerous routes through the park.

For the little vacationers

A special service provided by the municipalities is the "Pitzi's Kinderclub". During the summer months, the club's team organizes an exciting weekly program for younger (3-6 years) and older adventurers (7 to 14 years). Fun and games are the focus, of course. Whether it's treasure hunting or the mini-Olympics with the cute mascot Pitzi, whether it's climbing, archery, or on the mountain safari - boredom is a foreign word in the children's club. Parents know that their offspring are well taken care of here and can embark on a journey of discovery through the Pitztal in a relaxed atmosphere while their loved ones enjoy the holidays with children of the same age.
