Vacation in the Kufstein Region

Kufstein, the "pearl of Tyrol on the green Inn," is the second largest city in North Tyrol. The famous Kufstein Fortress is undoubtedly the city's largest landmark and is home to, among other things, the largest free organ in the world and a local history museum. Several well-known events with up to 5,000 visitors take place at the castle hill every year, and for some time now, visitors to the Josefsburg can also be protected from unfavorable weather conditions with a retractable roof.

The holiday region between the Kaisergebirge and a beautiful lake area invites you to discover and enjoy. The surrounding towns, such as the well-known Erl with its Passion Plays, the romantic Passion Play village of Thierseetal, the Haflingerdorf Ebbs, as well as Niederndorf, Schwoich, and Langkampfen, all belong to the Kufstein holiday region. Nestled between the nature reserve of the Zahmen and Wilden Kaiser, the region around Kufstein is a perfect hiking and mountain biking area. The seven bathing lakes present themselves in excellent water quality and offer a refreshing cool-down in crystal-clear water on hot summer days. You will find plenty of suitable hotels, guesthouses, vacation rentals, or accommodations for your holiday in this holiday region.

Kufstein region in winter

A city and eight surrounding villages are waiting to be explored. The Thierseetal ski area is particularly family-friendly. Well-known ski areas such as the "Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental," the "Hochkössen - Unterberg" ski area, and the "Zahmer Kaiser - Durchholzen" ski area are just a few minutes' drive from Kufstein. In addition to popular winter sports activities such as sledding, cross-country skiing, ice skating, winter hiking, and snowshoeing, the region offers special activities such as husky sledding, snowkiting, or snowtubing.

In the Alpbachtal ski area, winter sports enthusiasts will find 52km of excellently groomed slopes and ski routes with descents of all difficulty levels. In winters with little snow, 80 snow cannons are used to transform the area into a magnificent winter landscape! 8 beautiful toboggan runs, numerous cross-country ski trails, and several guided snowshoe hikes (including nighttime torchlight hikes) invite you to engage in sporting activities away from the slopes.

On more than 70 kilometers of slopes, the Wildschönau ski area offers something for every taste, from leisurely skiers to sporty skiers to professional carvers. The variant slopes also offer great experiences. The high valley of Wildschönau is known for being sunny and yet snow-sure - a convincing argument!

Alpbachtal

The entrance to the Alpbachtal valley is located in the municipality of Brixlegg in the Inn Valley. In the valley, there are two municipalities, Reith im Alpbachtal and Alpbach. The sub-municipality of Inneralpbach forms the end of the valley. Alpbach gained high recognition through the annually held "European Forum Alpbach," where international personalities from science, business, culture, and politics, including several Nobel Prize winners, come together.

With its 160km long network of hiking trails, the Alpbachtal presents itself as a fantastic hiking area. The region can also be explored by bicycle or mountain bike. The view from a bird's eye perspective while paragliding is particularly recommended. Romantic spots can be found all over the Alpbachtal. Enjoy the beautiful Alpbachtal!

Wildschönau

Wildschönau is a 24km long high valley near Wörgl, comprising the four church villages of Niederau, Oberau, Auffach, and Thierbach, and is located in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps. The municipality of Wildschönau consciously focuses on gentle tourism and strives not to create a hustle and bustle like Kitzbühel.

The hiking trails in the Wildschönau lead up to an altitude of 2,300m. Two gondola lifts make it easier to ascend the mountains. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a captivating view over the high valley. The high-altitude hikes along the mountain ridges are also particularly popular. The high valley offers all the prerequisites for other summer activities such as swimming, playing tennis, paragliding, canyoning, rafting, and horseback riding.

Tip:
Bake your own "farmers' bread" at the "Baking Bread on the Farm" event in the municipality of Wildschönau.
