Vacation in Stubaital and Wipptal

To the southwest of Innsbruck, the Stubai Valley stretches along the Stubai Alps. South of the main town of Neustift, the valley branches off into the Pinnis, Unterberg, and Oberbergtal. Very close to Neustift, holidaymakers can explore the largest glacier ski area in Austria on the Stubai Glacier, where snow-sure skiing and snowboarding are possible from October to June. On a total of 110 kilometers of downhill slopes, everyone - from beginners to professionals - will find the perfect place to carve or make turns.

A Snow Paradise with Distinction

A meeting point for boarders and freestylers is the Stubai Zoo at Gaisskarferner. In this fun park, adrenaline junkies practice their impressive stunts and amaze many spectators. And as the day comes to an end, you can head home via the longest valley run in Austria - because on the “Wilde Grubn” you can descend into the valley on a 10-kilometer-long downhill run. It's easy to see why the Stubai Glacier ski area was voted number 1 in the European Top 10 glaciers, given these superlatives.

The Schlick ski area near the village of Fulpmes also impresses its guests - with 22 well-prepared kilometers of slopes, a speed track, a Free Nature Park for freestylers and boarders, a children's area, and an idyllic panoramic lake for a relaxing break after the sporting exertion.

Away from the slopes, friends of the cold season will find the most beautiful snowshoeing trails in the winter Stubai Valley over 120 kilometers. A horse-drawn sleigh ride or a horseback ride through the snowy landscape will warm your heart. And if that's not enough: night tobogganing with floodlights, ice skating rinks, and natural toboggan runs, as well as extensive snowshoe hikes across the snow-covered alpine meadows, make the Stubai Valley a melting pot for winter activities. Action heroes also find their calling in ice climbing on the Stubai Glacier. Near the Gamsgarten mountain station on the Stubai Glacier, a 20-meter-high ice tower reaches into the sky, just waiting to be climbed by you.

Wild Waters and Tranquil Valleys

In summer, the highlights of the region shift to the fantastic hiking trails. The Stubai High Trail connects mountains, valleys, mountain lakes, and huts on various stages and passes by impressive natural spectacles. The WildeWasserWege lead past unique natural spectacles. Part of the WildeWasserWeg is also a circular route that can be completed in four daily stages. Passing through gorges, ravines, valleys, and high alpine paths, hikers feel like they are in a nature film and gain an impression of the ecological connections of this sensitive region. At the end of the first stage, the majestic Grawa Waterfall awaits - the widest waterfall in the entire Eastern Alps. Around this natural monument, a special vegetation has developed, as the cascades spray the water, giving the surrounding forest a rainforest-like atmosphere - moist and covered with lichens.

Mountain enthusiasts, on the other hand, enjoy the rich selection of peaks in the Stubai Valley. The highest mountain in the Stubai Alps - the more than 3,500-meter-high “Zuckerhütl” with its characteristic appearance - has become a popular climbing area. And the Habicht, the Schrankogel, and the Ruderhofspitze also have nothing to hide behind.

Viewing platforms such as the “Top of Tyrol” on the Schaufelspitze at the Stubai Glacier and the platform “StubaiBlick” in the Schlick2000 finally give you an impression of how you can see the wide Stubai Valley from the perspective of an eagle.

Wipptal

From Innsbruck along the Sill River to the south, the Wipptal valley runs. The highest point at 1,374 meters above sea level is reached at the Brenner Pass, the state border between Italy (South Tyrol) and Austria (Tyrol).
