900 meters of altitude / 5h
The Wurzer Alpenspitze is also known as "Zwiesl" and is located in the Stubai Alps.
For this not too strenuous hiking tour, head to the hamlet of Entholz in Ridnaun. Before the beginning of the village, you will find some parking spaces where you can park your car and put on your snowshoes.
Then hike towards the small ski lift and over open meadows to the south until you reach a large farm. Do you see the signpost to the Innere Wurzeralm? Perfect, then follow the path in the indicated direction and soon turn right into a forest aisle. There you will cross the stream over a bridge after some time and then follow the slightly ascending path through the forest.
After crossing the forest road, continue to follow the signpost to the Innere Wurzeralm. Gradually you will reach the forest border and leave it behind. At this altitude, you can already see the huts of the Wurzeralm. The direction is now clear. At an altitude of 1,883 meters, you have finally reached the Innere Wurzeralm and can take a well-deserved break. Own provisions are necessary in the winter months when the alm is not managed.
The further path leads over the alpine landscape – initially somewhat flatter, but then over the mountain ridge with some switchbacks up to the summit at around 2,200 meters in altitude. The Wurzer Alpenspitze has thus been reached, and it thanks you for your efforts with a magnificent view of the mountain scenery of Ridnaun and Ratschings’.
The subsequent descent is again via the ascent route and allows you to experience the beautiful impressions gained once more.
The approximately 900 meters of altitude can be covered in about 5 hours in total. The forest sections can become a challenge, depending on the weather, when ice forms here. However, the route is generally also quite suitable for beginners.
