Easy tour with 350 meters of altitude difference
Do not be deterred by the name. You will not inevitably get lost. But you might be captivated by the unique natural landscape of the Trentino-South Tyrol region.<\/p>
At the foot of the Latemar, a mountain range in the Italian Dolomites, the tour starts from the large parking lot at the Carezza Pass. Via the "Plörzen" forest trail, you will soon reach the so-called Agatha Christie trail (also marked as trail no. 18) via a fork to the right. The name is no coincidence, as the famous crime novelist once enjoyed her vacation here and was so taken with the area that she chose the rocky backdrop as the model for the robbers' hideout in her novel "The Big Four".
After about 10 minutes of ascent, you will reach a fork in the path. Here you take the right fork, after which a flat, narrow path follows, which first leads you into a small valley and finally to a high boulder that has infallibly taken its place in the middle of the landscape.
Trail no. 18 ends here. Keep to the right and change to the forest path with the number 11. A climb takes you to the Mitterleger at an altitude of 1839 meters.
The Labyrinthsteig trail (trail no. 20) now begins in the south-east with its mysterious collection of boulders. Rockfalls and mudslides from the past have turned this area into the bizarrely beautiful landscape that attracts many nature lovers here today. After 30 minutes, you have left the labyrinth behind you and are already at the gates to the Latemar meadows at an altitude of 1908 meters. Continue the hike on trail no. 18, pay a short or longer visit to the Ochsenhütte (1823 meters above sea level) (only open in the summer months) and then return to the starting point of this tour after half an hour.
The approximately four-hour hike is classified as "easy" and is therefore also suitable for beginners. There is a difference in altitude of around 350 meters.
