There are three waterfalls, between 10 and 42 m high, over which the water masses fall impressively and spray-dusted into the depths. The waterfalls can be reached on a beautiful and not too strenuous hike via the Franziskusweg, a highly rewarding excursion for the whole family.
The starting point is the parking lot in Winkl at Sand in Taufers. After a short stretch along the road, a symbolic gate marks the beginning of the contemplative path of Saint Francis. The first waterfall is soon reached, after which it goes up in switchbacks for about 15 minutes to the second waterfall. The third and highest of the Reinbach waterfalls is reached via a partly a little steep trail, but it is well secured with fences. The natural spectacle that this waterfall offers, however, compensates for the efforts of the ascent. The water masses spectacularly plunge into the depths of the Reinbach gorge and envelop the surroundings in a cool spray mist. One holds one's breath in amazement, for this waterfall is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in South Tyrol.
The path then continues further over a bridge to the other side of the gorge. Then it goes up through the forest to the ruins of Toblburg. The former castle chapel, the Franz and Klara Chapel, is now the end point of the path.
Along the Franziskusweg there are ten points of reflection, which were designed by the parishes of the Tauferer Ahrntal. These points of reflection are intended to provide opportunities for pause and contemplation. The chapel at the end of the path is also always open for prayer, day and night. This chapel, which like the ruin was already threatened by complete decay, was completely restored from the ground up in 1982. On the occasion of this successful rescue of the chapel, the Franziskusweg was subsequently laid out in its present form.
