The technology of the old railway, which was already over 50 years old, was replaced as part of comprehensive modernization work within eight months, and the remaining parts were overhauled. With the help of the railway, guests and locals can reach the Grawand mountain station from Kurzras, where the slopes of the Alpin Arena Schnals attract skiers and snowboarders. In addition, the so-called Sundowner event takes place here every Sunday between February 11 and March 24, 2024, which has been completely redesigned. From 3 p.m., the dreamy sunset is accompanied by DJ music, and winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy drinks at the summit station in this unforgettable atmosphere, thus ending the day.

More comfort

The last gondola departs at 7 p.m. back to Kurzras, with the journey now taking only about six minutes. In addition, the cabins now also have more usable space and heated floors, which prevents ice formation. The full glazing also provides the best views. With the help of a traction rope ring and a wider track gauge, restrictions in case of wind can also be prevented. A day ticket is available from 47 euros, and children up to the age of 10 can purchase a Snowkid ticket for five euros per day if accompanied by their mother or father who has a ski pass. More information about the Alpin Arena Schnals can also be found at www.schnalstal.com/de. This year's ski season lasts until the beginning of April, then further modernization will take place, as a bar, a restaurant, a covered entrance, and an underground car park are planned for the next winter season.

The Schnalstal – a year-round destination

The Schnalstal is a year-round holiday destination that captivates both mountaineers and nature lovers and hikers. Here, they find peace and relaxation, but can also engage in various sports activities. The Schnalstal begins in front of Juval Castle and ends at the site where the glacier mummy Ötzi was discovered. Shortly after entering the valley, you immerse yourself in a dreamy mountain landscape, in contrast to which old farmhouses, larch forests, and spectacular glacier worlds stand. In addition, visitors to the Schnalstal will also find numerous rustic mountain huts and inns, as well as first-class restaurants. The range of accommodation options is also large, ranging from four-star hotels and guesthouses to farms, holiday apartments, and campsites.
