Gitschberg Jochtal Ski Resort

The Gitschberg ski area is located between 1,400m and 2,500m above sea level above Meransen. Among the many advantages of the area are the wide, perfectly groomed slopes that offer all skiers and snowboarders enough space for free riding.

Skiing without waiting times
The waiting times at the lifts are short even during the high season due to the high capacities. On the panoramic platform at the upper end of the four-seater chairlift, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the impressive South Tyrolean mountain world. You can see over 500 mountain peaks.

Nothing more is needed
In December 2003, the new 8-seater gondola lift went into operation. Now nine lifts and 25 km of slopes are available to all winter sports enthusiasts from December to after Easter. Even at night, skiing is possible in the Gitschberg ski area on the floodlit slope of the Brunner lift in Meransen. And for a proper après-ski, there are 5 rustic mountain huts and two après-ski bars.

Ideal for families
This ski area is certainly one of the most family-friendly areas in the South Alps, because there is no hustle and bustle or long distances here. Down in the village, there are three practice lifts for beginners, and once the necessary confidence on the two boards or snowboard is there, there is nothing standing in the way of fun on the slopes in Jochtal. Three lifts, including a modern 8-seater gondola lift, take you to the varied descents in Jochtal.

Snow reliability
Almost all of the 21 kilometers of slopes can be covered with artificial snow. Of course, there is also a descent directly to the village in the valley.

Kids' club
For all the grown-ups who want to have fun for a few hours alone without the dear children, simply send the kids to the Bambino Club. There they also learn important tips and tricks for their future skiing career.

We wish you a lot of fun on your winter vacation in Gitschberg from the online editorial team!

Individuality is highly valued in the ski area above Meransen. The wide slopes invite you to unrestricted skiing pleasure, and there are also many opportunities to explore nature off the groomed slopes. Taking on the challenge, finding your own way, or discovering the unexpected during a deep snow descent makes variant skiing an indispensable experience for many winter sports enthusiasts. The ski schools in the Gitschberg-Jochtal region are therefore the first point of contact for all those looking for alternative ways. Professional mountain guides accompany freeriders on their telemark tours or on trips over deep snow-covered slopes.

Basic data:
16 lift facilities
55 kilometers of slopes in total
1354 meters above sea level at the valley station
2512 meters above sea level at the mountain station
