Trend sport Nordic Cruising

Trend sport Nordic Cruising: In recent years, a new trend sport has also developed in cross-country skiing, which is now really booming. This variant of classic cross-country skiing, which builds on the success of Nordic Walking, is called Nordic Cruising.

Cross-country skiing is already one of the healthiest winter sports; it evenly challenges the entire body, strengthens both the muscles and the cardiovascular system, and also improves motor skills and movement coordination. Moreover, the risk of injury is low and practically negligible compared to alpine winter sports. Therefore, cross-country skiing can be practiced without concern at any age – from early childhood to advanced age.

Nordic Cruising, the "gentle way" of cross-country skiing, differs from "normal" cross-country skiing first of all by the equipment: The skis are shorter and wider, thus offering more stability. A waist makes it easier to change direction and switch tracks noticeably, a special grind provides more grip when climbing. In addition, the motion sequence with the cruising skis is faster and easier to learn, so they are also well suited for beginners.

With Nordic Cruising, there is no performance pressure, but instead smoother movements that protect the spine and joints. Nevertheless, even with Nordic Cruising, over 90 percent of the musculature is activated and the heart and circulation are optimally trained. As a classic endurance sport, Nordic Cruising is also a perfect fat burner, replacing any fitness studio.

And there is another special appeal of Nordic Cruising: The shorter skis with the rounded tip also allow for progress outside the groomed trails. Cross-country through deep snow and winter forest, this is also possible with the special cruising skis. In Scandinavia, this cross-country skiing, called Back Country, has always been the norm, although different material is used for it. With the Nordic Cruising skis, this natural movement in the terrain is now also gaining more and more followers in Central Europe. However, only advanced skiers with solid technique should venture into the open terrain.

The Tyrolean and South Tyrolean winter sports resorts have already adjusted to the new trend sport and offer with their extensive cross-country skiing options many possibilities to practice Nordic Cruising or to try it out for the first time. Special courses are available both for beginners and for athletes who want to improve their technique. In addition, there is the magnificent backdrop of the Alps, which makes Nordic Cruising a pure pleasure experience. Replenishing fitness, feeling the body and experiencing nature up close – all this and much more can be found in Nordic Cruising!
