Outdoor pools in South Tyrol

Where is it better to endure than in the cool waters under the open sky when temperatures keep climbing higher in the summer?

South Tyrol not only enchants with its alpine flair, but also exudes a special closeness to the Italian way of life - Mediterranean feeling accompanies you throughout your entire vacation - including in the diverse outdoor pools of the region.
The reasons for a visit range from athletic conviction to fun and relaxation. Numerous desires also call for numerous pools in different forms. South Tyrol takes on this challenge and can offer you a remarkable selection.

Sporty types will quickly take the outdoor pool in Bruneck in the Pustertal to their hearts, because with its impressive 50-meter sports pool it also provides every reason to do so. In addition, a generously landscaped sunbathing lawn invites you to linger in the bronzing sun, while the little ones have great fun in their own children's pool. In the adjoining wellness area, you can treat yourself to an algae wrap, a mud pack, hot stones, or the Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Nui massage. Special sports massages are also offered here for athletes.

While the little ones enjoy their childhood to the fullest in the water, the green sunbathing lawns offer parents, as well as the classic outdoor pool residents and sun worshippers, the longed-for place of rest where they can soak up some color and let their thoughts wander. Or finally immerse themselves in the exciting world of the long-delayed novel. Or simply enjoy the view of the vineyards, the forests, and the rustic villages and think to themselves, "This is all so different from home."

You can enjoy such a dreamy view over the vineyards to the mountains, for example, at the panoramic outdoor pool in Schenna above Merano. Of course, a sun terrace is also a must here. In addition to a separate children's area including a pool, this facility also has a bubble bath, a water slide, several bowling lanes, and two tennis courts.

South Tyrol has some places where the sun is a constant visitor. Some of them even have more than 300 days of sunshine per year. That practically calls for a visit to the outdoor pool, which then explains itself.

Mediterranean feeling and fascinating architecture

Naturally, South Tyrol with its many nature parks is rich in lakes and ponds. However, not everyone is very fond of the earthy ground and possible encounters with small pond dwellers or underwater plants. That's why the outdoor pools take their place between the indoor pools and the natural lakes, but strive for outstanding extensions of the classic program.

For example, the outdoor pool in Algund near Merano creates a Mediterranean vacation feeling with its saltwater system. In a beautifully planted environment with a view of the Texel Group Nature Park and Forst Castle, you can share a lounge together with coziness, enjoy a refreshment at the bar, or play a game of table football. Children have their own slide and also enjoy the floor bubble and the water mushroom.

Also with a Mediterranean flair, the sports and adventure pool in Tramin on the wine route in the Trentino region stands out. If the name sounds familiar to you - quite right, the Gewürztraminer - the low-acid white wine - sprouts from the local soil here and serves as its namesake. The 1,300 square meters of water surface certainly include not only a counter-current system and floor bubbles, but also a waterfall and a climbing rock. On solid ground, hot beach volleyball matches are played, which you can watch from the sun-drenched, terraced sunbathing lawn. The immediate surroundings are also a perfect starting point for extensive hikes and bike tours.

The lake pool in Kaltern, in Überetsch-Unterland in the province of Bolzano, impresses with its architecture designed by the famous Viennese architect Ernst Fuchs. Several separate pools, for example for athletes or for children, offer everyone the individually right water conditions. The sunbathing lawn and the playground complete the offer.

Also in Bolzano, namely in Lana, there is another attractive outdoor pool facility - the Lido Lana with a large guest parking lot. However, it is also easily accessible by train - the train station is within walking distance. A 50-meter Olympic pool, a diving pool with diving towers, as well as a separate non-swimmer pool can be found here. And when hunger strikes: the rustic pizzas from the traditional stone oven of the pizzeria are definitely worth a recommendation!

Outdoor pools with rain alternatives

Both indoor and outdoor pools await you at the Mar Dolomit in the tranquil Groedental. Summer relaxation on the sunbathing lawn, a 65-meter long water slide, and as a special treat, a brine pool that also leaves a touch of vacation by the sea on the skin - supported by a flow channel, a bubble grotto, and several massage loungers. Swimming lessons are also offered here. And if it gets colder or the rain sets in, the saunas and rest rooms will help you relax deeply.

The fun of swimming also has no problems with weather caprices in the adventure pool Naturns. Swimming under a protective roof and among palm trees or outdoors with a view of the mountains - you can choose here. Into the salty brine pool? On the 75-meter slide? In the flow channel? In the diving pool or the Kneipp pool? The outdoor pool with water fountain and bubble system tries to offer you more than just refreshing cool water.

Wet Romans

Swimming like the ancient Romans. Sounds tempting? Then a visit to the Wasserpark outdoor pool in Dorf Tirol is definitely worth it. The slender cypresses reach sharply into the sky, antique-looking columns frame the water basin - you feel transported to a Roman bath. Children also have their own pool here, equipped with a mini water slide. The "Soundpool" series also underlines the fun of swimming and moments of relaxation with groovy tunes from alternating DJs. And to top it all off, the South Tyrolean mountain world presents itself here with a breathtakingly beautiful panoramic view.
