The Incas already appreciated these lovable creatures, especially because of their fine wool. Today, the animals are also used in animal-assisted therapy, as these curious and patient woolly balls are true experts when it comes to defusing psychologically difficult situations. This therapeutic work is also offered at Kaserhof.
Since 1996, the cloven-hoofed animals belonging to the camel family have been bred here at an altitude of 1,320 meters, establishing the largest and oldest breeding program in Italy, which has the most remarkable genetic diversity in Europe. A breeding program involving many other animal breeders allows for a rich spectrum. More than 200 llamas and alpacas call Kaserhof their home. Some of them are also available for sale - they are then delivered directly to the buyer with the necessary documents.
For now, you can admire the small camel-like animals in their refuge, where they are kept in a species-appropriate manner and provided with biologically high-quality feed. After all, the focus here is on natural and traditional agriculture. In the immediate vicinity, there are also purebred Arabian horses, which are also professionally bred here. In addition, there are cattle, chickens, ducks, dogs, and cats living on the farm. Animal lovers will certainly be delighted here.
A special experience for children and adults are the guided trekking tours with specially trained male llamas. The enduring and gentle animals accompany you along the ancient Roman road to the mystical earth pyramids of Ritten, which rise like a mysterious fairy-tale army from the forest floor. The llamas thankfully carry the backpacks containing the reward for the human hikers - at the end of the tour, a hearty snack awaits to satisfy hungry stomachs. The animal trekking tours take place every Wednesday and Friday and take about three and a half hours, during which approximately 300 meters in altitude are covered.
In summer, the animal trekking offer is supplemented by multi-day trekking tours in the high mountains. Then you can hear the llama calls at the Tre Cime in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Sexten Dolomites, at the Sella Group, or in the Puez Geisler Nature Park.
For visitors, Kaserhof also offers holiday apartments, allowing families with children to enjoy a special kind of farm holiday. Of course, the llamas and alpacas take center stage, but the rest of the offer, including fresh vegetables from the farm, a healing and herb garden, and a natural children's playground, is also more than impressive.
