Wildspitzbahn - The highest cable car in Austria

Just in time for the start of the winter season, the new Wildspitzbahn began operating. The 8-person gondola lift leaves nothing to be desired in terms of technology and comfort. In addition, guests at the mountain station can expect the highest café in Austria.

Café 3440 - the name says it all. At 3,440 m above sea level, the new café impresses with spectacular architecture, a floating sun terrace, and a magnificent panoramic view of the mighty peak of the Wildspitze, the highest mountain in North Tyrol at 3,768 m, and 50 other 3,000-meter peaks. Café 3440 is the absolute highlight of the Wildspitzbahn, not only from an architectural point of view. It is a magnificent eye-catcher and with around 170 seats indoors and the spectacular sun terrace, it becomes an attractive meeting point that also offers culinary delights at the highest level.

The new, state-of-the-art Wildspitzbahn has a capacity of 2,185 people per hour and direction of travel. The speed is 6 m/second, so that guests can reach the 3,440 meter high Hinterer Brunnenkogel in less than six minutes from the new valley station at 2,840 m above sea level. The comfortable cabins are equipped with seat heating, so that the ride is pleasantly frost-free even in the coldest winter weather. In addition, for the first time, skis and snowboards can be taken into the cabin, which is a world first.

For the architectural team and the construction companies involved, the exposed location during the construction of the new Wildspitzbahn and Café 3440 was a special challenge. The steep mountain slopes with only small footprint areas, the great height, and the weather posed extreme demands on all involved. The entire construction work required around 700 helicopter flights and over 3,300 trips with the material cable car. Environmental protection, which is always a sensitive issue in glacier regions, received special consideration throughout. The Pitztaler Gletscherbahnen invested around 20 million euros in the entire project - an investment that will make the entire Pitztal even more attractive all year round.

The highest cable car and the highest café in Austria: Treat yourself to a summit meeting of superlatives in the beautiful Pitztal.
