Winter Hiking on Vacation: On the Move in the Pitztal Valley

Deeply snow-covered villages, picturesque mountain peaks, and white forests: This is how the Pitztal presents itself in the cold season. On various hiking trails, guests can immerse themselves in the romantic snowy landscape and enjoy the winter.

The winter hiking trails in the Pitztal can be found at various altitudes. Away from the tourist masses, you can stroll through the snowy landscape, recharge your strength and energy, and give your soul a break from everyday life.

For example, a winter hike along the valley cross-country ski trail in St. Leonhard is beautiful, which runs from Mittelberg to Wiese and is about 21 kilometers long. Here, winter shows its most beautiful side, and you can practically get on and off the winter hiking trail in every village, so everyone can perfectly tailor their own walking time.

Enjoy with all senses

In the Hochzeiger ski area, one of the most beautiful stone pine forests in the Pitztal is located. For a long time, this has protected the village of Jerzens from mudslides and avalanches, but the popular pine species also promotes relaxation, calms the heartbeat, and enchants with its incomparable scent.

Wildlife adventure trail in Arzl

Families should definitely take a walk on the wildlife experience trail in Arzl, where you can playfully learn about the animals in the Pitztal, how they live in winter, and how to read tracks.

Up to the Gogles Alm

The Gogles Alm also offers a breathtaking winter backdrop, where you can let the fantastic panorama of the surrounding mountain landscape take effect from the alpine terrace. In addition, regional specialties are offered at the Gogles Alm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during the winter. A well-deserved reward after a strenuous ascent!

Hiking in the Kaunergrat Nature Park

Together with farmers, hunters, biologists, and nature park guides, you can venture out into the snowy Kaunergrat Nature Park, which is about 590 km² in size. Here, you can leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind, enjoy the quiet winter landscape, and recharge your batteries. A very special highlight is also a horn sled ride or a wildlife feeding, which you can experience together with a hunter.
