Bolzano is known for its wine, which has a very long tradition. Wine was already cultivated here by the Raetians and the Romans, and even today the landscape is characterized by the vines and their sweet fruits, which reach into the city center and thrive particularly well in the sunny location. Every year, around five million bottles of wine are filled in Bolzano and the surrounding area on about 500 hectares with the sweet grape juice. Especially two types of wine are very sought after here: The granite-red Lagrein, which was already drunk in the Middle Ages and is characterized by a velvety taste, as well as the St. Magdalener, a type of wine that is obtained from the Vernatsch grape and is especially appreciated for its fine aroma.

These and other noble drops can be tasted annually in August during the Lorenzo's Night in the Bolzano Arcades. The producers are then available for various kinds of information, in addition, there is a sommelier stand and numerous opportunities to try local specialties such as cheese, bacon, bread, and baked goods. During Lorenzo's Night, young and old, tourists and locals meet to enjoy the special Mediterranean atmosphere and the numerous highlights of the evening. People chat and stroll, taste the delicious treats and, in addition, let the romantic flair, supported by the warm summer nights and the typical shooting star rain, have an effect on them.
