Wine specialties in South Tyrol‘s hotels

For more than 100 years, red wine varieties such as Lagrein, Vernatsch, Merlot, or Pinot Noir have been cultivated in South Tyrol, but in over 45 percent of the vineyards, white grape varieties are also found, from which Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, or Pinot Gris are made. In addition, varieties such as Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Grüner Veltliner, or Sauvignon produce characterful fruity wines, which also form the basis for South Tyrolean sparkling wine. Special emphasis is also placed on biodynamic wines, meaning that chemical-synthetic fertilizers or pesticides are avoided in production, the vineyard ecosystem is taken into account, and plant and animal diversity is promoted.

Many hotels in South Tyrol therefore place great importance on an exquisite wine list and strive to introduce guests to the noble grape juice. For some establishments, wine has even become a focal point; they have their own wine cellars where elegant white and red wines or finely sparkling champagne varieties are stored. A vacation centered around the noble drop is therefore a unique experience.
