Mieming Swimming Lake

The small bathing lake on the Mieminger sun plateau does not have a glacial origin, unlike most alpine lakes, but was artificially created.

Yet one decisive feature connects it with its natural counterparts – the breathtaking mountain panorama as a sequence of several mighty mountain peaks. In this case, it is the rock peaks of the Mieminger Chain, which gather, one after the other, silently and majestically around the bathing lake.

Generally, sports and action dominate the scene here. Several diving platforms and a water trampoline allow for acrobatic stunts, while around the sunbathing lawn you can find all sorts of opportunities for beach volleyball, table tennis, badminton, basketball, slacklining, and table football.

Great fun for little people

The children are not shortchanged here either, as they can really let off steam on the adventure playground. Additional swimming islands in the lake increase the fun in the cool water even more. But it's not that cool here either – 22 degrees Celsius is a pleasant refreshment on a hot summer's day. With a maximum depth of 3.5 meters, the Mieming bathing lake proves to be the perfect place for families with children who are uneasy about deeper waters. While the children splash around, the parents can tan their bodies on the sunbathing lawn or lie in the shade of the trees, keeping an eye on everything that's going on in the water, as the gently sloping shore is easy to overlook from almost everywhere.

Boat captains ahoy!

Boats are also allowed on the lake and as a special service, there is a free inflation facility for inflatable boats and air mattresses at Lake Mieming. So, in no time at all, you're ready to set sail. However, the lake's own lighthouse does not light the way for ships, but rather for the hungry and thirsty visitors. Ice-cold refreshments and delicious grilled specialties as well as wonderful ice cream creations are served in the lake restaurant with the sonorous name. Whether in the restaurant area, at the bar, on the terrace, or in the adjacent Seegart'l under the open sky – culinary satisfaction can be found everywhere. As for the journey, Lake Mieming does not put any big rocks in your way. It is easy to reach by car and offers free parking. Nonetheless, an arrival with a hiking backpack is also recommended, as the Mieming Sun Plateau can boast numerous wonderful hiking trails between mountains and ancient larch forests.
