Information for your hiking holiday in South Tyrol

When it gets warmer outside again, countless hiking trails in South Tyrol invite you to experience nature. But what do you need to consider to be able to properly enjoy a hike?

Hiking in South Tyrol and Tyrol

Having the right equipment is very important, as it guarantees safety and contributes to a carefree day in South Tyrol's mountains. Above all, the right footwear is important, as it can prevent pressure points and blisters. You should wear the shoes a few times before use so that they can properly adjust and widen. In addition, gloves, a hat, and a backpack with a water bottle are also part of the right equipment.

For a hike to become a true experience, you should also heed the following advice: Plan your hike in advance and adjust the tour to your fitness level.

  • Plan your hike in advance and adjust the tour to your fitness level.
  • Get sufficient information about the planned tour and also inform yourself about the weather conditions.
  • On the hike, you should take a break of about ten minutes at least every two hours.
  • Eat and drink enough during the tour.
  • The marked path should never be left.
  • If the weather worsens, abort your hike.
  • A emergency kit (flashlight, first-aid box, mobile phone) should not be missing in any backpack.

On the way with children

When planning a hike with children, it is best to start with an easy forest walk or take the cable car up to a high plateau to enjoy nature on a circular trail. Time calculation also plays an important role: as a family, you should always plan double the time that is indicated for the selected route. Children also like it when they are offered "goals" such as a tasty meal or a bathing lake. Only after the little ones have completed a hike several times can they develop a feeling for whether it is difficult or easy.
