Sledding at Klammbachalm

Below the Carnic Ridge in Sexten there is one of the most beautiful natural toboggan runs in South Tyrol.

Sledding - Tobogganing
Sledding - Tobogganing

Sledding is practiced here in its archaic originality, because there is no lift to take you up. Face to face with nature, the silence and peace in your ears, no clattering of a lift system. 'Back to the roots' so to speak.

The ascent can be somewhat exhausting, requires good physical condition and takes about 2.5 hours for the practiced hiker.

From Moos in Sexten – parking available – the route leads over a forest road to the Klammbachalm. Once at the top, first enjoy the wonderful view of the Tre Cime – the characteristic mountain massif of the Sexten Dolomites.

If you want to stop for a bite to eat – and after the strenuous climb you've earned it – you can do so at the Klammbachalm hut. Here, motivated winter sports enthusiasts are served food and drinks, but there are no overnight accommodations at the hut.

We are now at the highest point at almost 2,000 meters above sea level. At the same time, this is also the start for the 6.5 kilometers long natural toboggan run, which leads back to Moos in Sexten with a difference in altitude of 600 meters.

The course ensures rapid speeds and can be characterized as 'demanding' and 'moderately difficult'. Accordingly, and also because there is no lift here, this toboggan run is less suitable for families. Smaller children might have difficulties with the tricky course.

In the spirit of primordiality, there is also no lighting and no possibility to rent a sled. A track for hardy self-providers, who will however get their money's worth with a unique sledding experience in the midst of wild romantic nature.
