The view already promises very beautiful impressions for the eye. And there is another promise – namely one of fun and action on the mountain's own toboggan run. Six kilometers is the length of the well-prepared track, which leads from the mountain station Raschötz partly through the forest down to the valley station St. Ulrich. A separate snowmaking system ensures the best snow conditions at any time.
Here you can hear both children and adults laughing, as the level of the track is between medium and easy.
You can park at the valley station St. Ulrich. By the way, there is also a sled rental for those who have arrived without a sled and do not want to miss out on this fun. From the valley station, various paths lead to the top. Sports enthusiasts dare the ascent on foot and hike a forest path that elevates a piece of regional tradition with wood-carved Stations of the Cross. The carvings are based on the designs of the South Tyrolean sculptor Vinzenz Moroder-Resciesa.
Those who want to save their energy can also take the modern funicular railway, which was opened in 2010 and takes only 8 minutes to the valley station. It replaces the old chairlift, which was created in the 1950s by Luis Trenker among others, and uses the same route.
A mid-station has also been added – so now there is also the possibility to ride the lower part of the toboggan run more often. Ideal if the parents want to take a break on the sun terrace or in the mountain restaurant and the children want to continue whizzing down the mountain.
At the mountain station, the rustic Raschötzhütte awaits hungry visitors. For this reason, it has also opened its doors year-round. At an altitude of 2,200 meters, a wonderful mountain panorama of the Gröden Dolomites unfolds quite naturally.
We are also located in the Nature Park Puez-Geisler, which was opened in 1978 and stretches over more than 10,000 hectares of landscape with many alpine pastures and mountain meadows. Since 2009, this paradisiacal spot has also been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites and thus offers a particularly impressive setting for a natural tobogganing experience in South Tyrol.
