A dreamy paradise in the middle of the Alps

Luson / Lüsen

The small municipality Luson / Lüsen in the Eisack Valley is already something of a hidden gem for experienced South Tyrol holidaymakers. Almost 1500 people have settled here and enjoy the proximity to nature every day, which is practically right outside their front door. The highest point of the municipality is at around 2500 meters above sea level, where even the most troubled heart finds peace and tranquility. If you didn't know better, you could easily believe that the concept of "gentle tourism" was invented here. Numerous inns, farms, and cozy, family-run guesthouses offer food and accommodation after a long and eventful day.

The localities of Kreuz, Berg, Huben, Dorf, Rungg, Flitt, and Petschied belong to Luson / Lüsen. Even there, the weary holidaymaker finds shelter. One thing is common to all places: they are located on gentle slopes and can enjoy many hours of sunshine throughout the year. This not only has a positive effect on agriculture, but also on the human spirit. Year after year, holidaymakers and guests can convince themselves of this.

Green as far as the eye can see

Anyone who has visited Luson / Lüsen will immediately know what is being talked about here. The special features of the municipality are the numerous forests, meadows, and alpine pastures. A look at the statistics explains everything: around three quarters of the municipal area is covered by meadows and green spaces. In between, there are idyllic small villages, sunny alpine huts, and many viewpoints from which you can enjoy the magnificent panorama. Here, nature has been allowed to take its course and has not unnecessarily interfered with the landscape. The result is clear mountain lakes and lush flower meadows.

Tip: If you can't get enough of the lush greenery and impressive landscape, you should definitely plan a visit to the nearby Puez-Geisler Nature Park. At an altitude of 2500 meters, you will find over 10,000 hectares of untouched nature.

Diverse hiking trails

Gentle alpine meadows and the mighty Dolomites provide the perfect backdrop for hikes of varying difficulty levels. In and around Luson / Lüsen, active holidaymakers will find plenty of themed hiking trails to suit their needs. No matter which route you choose, one thing should not be missing: the hiking guide. It describes the hiking trails of the region with all the important details such as walking time, difficulty level, and altitude meters. For families, the Lüsen Nature Experience Trail is recommended, for example. Here you will find an exciting nature trail that is intended to bring the beauty and wonder of nature a little closer to both children and adults. Especially for children, this is a wonderful opportunity to gain valuable experiences in the great outdoors.

Also part of the nature experience trail: the Lüsen natural swimming pond. Especially in the summer months, you can refresh yourself, cool off, and gather strength for the next hike here. Another highlight for the little ones: the stream playground, which is located on the Kreuzweg. The playground of a different kind is entirely dedicated to "water and stones." Young researchers can observe animals and nature here; a magnifying glass, sieve, and brush are provided for this purpose at the local tourist office.
