All information for your holiday in

Racines

In Racines / Ratschings (ital. Racines), one of the largest holiday communities in South Tyrol, there are 3 beautiful valleys that make the hearts of nature lovers beat faster. In the Jaufental, Ratschingstal, and Ridnauntal, 4,500 inhabitants have settled at an altitude of almost 976 meters. For tourists, an impressive holiday world has been created here, which delights both in summer and winter.

Ratschings pampers its guests with high-quality hotel and gastronomy. Here you will find a variety of accommodations. The selection is really large: ranging from 4-star hotels, apartments, wellness hotels, hiking hotels, to beautiful guesthouses, the town offers all possibilities. Here you will find a list of all hotels and accommodations.

The "BergerlebsnisWelt" in the Ratschings-Jaufen alpine area has recently been opened, a newly created hiking trail with many enchanting attractions. First, the cable car takes you to over 1,800 m above sea level, and then the adventure trail, which is also suitable for strollers, begins with a marmot world, a petting zoo, fun water games, climbing structures, and exciting viewing bridges. Several mountain huts ensure your physical well-being.

In the cold season, everything is about skiing and winter fun. And there is something for every taste: whether it's fast turns on the slopes or a leisurely winter stroll. The first address is definitely the Ratschings-Jaufen ski area. During the ride in the modern 8-seater gondola, you already get a taste of what awaits you. Well-groomed slopes of varying difficulty levels are embedded in a magnificent alpine panorama.

And even the little ones have been taken care of: a children's ski garden and a children's ski area help to playfully learn the sport. With the children's ski carpet, even the transport uphill is a comfortable and above all fun experience.

TIP: A romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through the white picturesque landscape is the dignified conclusion to a sporty day in snow and ice.
News: In the municipality of Ratschings, there has been a technical path group consisting of: Tourism Association Ratschings, Forestry, Mountain Rescue, Alpine Club, and Cai for a year. They have the task of renovating, maintaining, and creating new paths in the municipality if necessary.

Sustainable tourism

In Ratschings and the surrounding valleys, you can not only let your soul dangle, but also do something for the environment. The holiday area is part of the sustainability association "Alpine Pearls", which ensures that getting around at the holiday destination is as climate-friendly as possible. So, traffic here takes a break. But to still get from A to B, there are many clever solutions, all of which are environmentally friendly: shared taxis, transfer services (e.g. from the train station to the accommodation), or several stations where you can borrow fast e-bikes.

For those who have handed in their car keys, you can of course also explore the beauty of the surroundings on foot. In addition to "normal" hiking trails, there are some very special adventure paths here. Here, you may have to show your skill in wading through water and balancing, or cover part of the route barefoot. Highly recommended:

  • the Ratschinger Almenweg,
  • the Pfeifer-Huisele-Weg and the
  • Wald und Wasser educational trail.

Variety for the whole family

Attractions as far as the eye can see, the decision "What are we going to do tomorrow?" can be really difficult. But one thing you should definitely plan is a trip to the Gilfenklamm. The narrow gorge, also known as the "Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Klamm", is exciting and beautiful at the same time. During a hike through the gorge, you can experience up close how the Ratschinger Bach finds its way between towering rocks and how roaring waterfalls meet shiny white marble. Unforgettable highlight in summer: the guided torchlight hikes through the gorge.

If you want to learn more about the history of Tyrolean mining culture, you should take a closer look at the show and adventure mine Ridnaun Schneeberg. The tours take place here between 1400 and 2700 meters above sea level! You should also not miss the annual cattle drive at the end of summer. Farmers, dairymen, and shepherds celebrate the end of the alpine season - music and the culinary specialties of the region are of course part of the celebration. High up, surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama, different rules apply than down in the valley. The weather turns faster, a planned tour sometimes requires more effort than expected, and a small misstep can sometimes necessitate an early return.
