Mountains and alpine meadows as far as the eye can see and endless untouched nature. This is what the municipality of Val di Vizze in South Tyrol in the Pfitsch Valley has to offer. Val di Vizze also includes Wiesen, this tranquil place looks back on a lively history of mining and today forms the dignified entrance to the Pfitsch Valley. The boundaries of the municipalities of Val di Vizze and Wiesen alone are impressive and imposing. Framed by the Zillertal Alps to the north, the Pfitscherbach to the south, and the Eisack to the west, the approximately 30km long valley is nestled in a breathtaking setting. Several mountains rise to heights of up to 3000 meters - a true paradise for mountaineers and alpine fans.
The Pfitsch Valley is largely untouched and not yet very developed for tourism. Therefore, simplicity and coziness of life are also valued here. Dreamy guesthouses, rustic inns, and remote farms invite you to linger and relax. The rest and retreat are especially appreciated, as you can feel it when you sink into the soft pillows after a long day in the fresh air with a well-filled stomach. Don't forget: to enjoy the beautiful sunset, which builds up like a colorful spectacle behind the rugged panorama of the surrounding mountains.

Natural spectacle
The greatest attraction of the municipality of Val di Vizze is nature itself. This can best be discovered on a gentle hike. Particularly recommended: the biotopes Riederau, Sanderau, and Grafau as well as unique natural monuments. In the nearby Burgumertal, for example, you can admire a stalactite spring, while the waterfall of the Unterbergbach refreshes just by looking at it. On the way to the "house mountain" of the Pfitsch Valley, the Pfitscherjoch, located at 2254 meters, there are numerous smaller and larger mountain lakes, in which pure, crystal-clear water collects. The Pfitscherjoch also forms the transition to the Zillertal; however, for safety reasons, it is only passable in summer.
The well-preserved Moos Castle in Wiesen is also worth a visit. Construction of the impressive residence began in the 13th century. The old tower, the high shingled roof, and the many small bay windows characterize the appearance of the castle.
Mountain experiences
Experienced mountaineers and climbing professionals in particular get their money's worth around Val di Vizze in South Tyrol. The immediate proximity to numerous three-thousanders enables a wide variety of mountain and hiking tours. Due to the nature of the terrain, these can sometimes be very demanding and are therefore only suitable for experienced and skilled mountaineers.
In addition to challenging high mountain tours to the Hochferner Spitze (3463m) or the Hochfeiler (3509m), there are also "easier" alpine and panoramic hikes. Once you have reached the top, you will be rewarded with a magnificent mountain panorama, surrounded by high alpine nature. These are impressions that you will not soon forget. In total, the area also has 4 mountain huts (Europahütte, Pfitscherjochhaus, Hochfeilerhütte, Sterzingerhütte) available, where hikers and mountaineers can find shelter at any time and recover from the physical exertion.
