The Stubai Valley has a lot to offer: Here visitors encounter mountain lakes, waterfalls, high moors, high mountains, but also many other natural sites. Some of these places and sites are somewhat hidden, but you don't have to climb steep walls to find them. They are often named after local names and bear designations such as Eulenwiesen, Kartnall or Telfer Wiesen. But all these places have one thing in common: They tell a story, present views or also provide insights into the geology of the Stubai Valley. Six out of a total of 25 natural sites can already be visited, and the others are to follow in the coming years. At the sites, loungers and benches invite you to linger and you can enjoy the unique moments and the power of these places to the fullest.
Inquired: Why the Stubai Valley enchants nature lovers
One already realized project is the round tour to the natural site Kartnall, which starts at the outdoor pool in Neustift. From here you can reach the site in about 45 minutes and enjoy the fantastic view up to the Sulzenauferner. You should also take the opportunity to try the tasty Tyrolean delicacies at the snack station located there. A tour to the Eulenwiesen is also very beautiful. This hike starts at the Alpengasthaus Gleinserhof until you reach the Eulenwiesen after about an hour, where you walk through meadows surrounded by countless larch trees. Numerous protected flowers thrive on the Eulenwiesen, including arnica, pasqueflower, or the blue gentian, for example. The meadows were created due to slash-and-burn, as the farmers sought new areas because of the numerous floods. The pines and spruces burned, but the larches remained and sprouted anew the following year.
Telfer Meadows and Eleven
The planned project is the natural site Telfer Wiesen, which is to be created directly above the Plaufenbach. A platform made of larch wood is planned here, on which you can lie and sit. Also still in the realization phase is the Elfer, a mountain that is very interesting mainly due to its geological peculiarities. At the natural site Elfer, an organic bench made of larch wood is planned to reflect the mountain folding of the Serleskamm and the Elferloch. In addition, two 3D viewers are planned to be installed at the stone, through which you can get a glimpse into the interior of the limestone.
