Christmas Stollen
The Christmas Stollen, a timeless classic.
Ingredients
- 500 g flour
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 knife tip each of cardamom and mace
- 40 g diced candied orange peel
- 40 g diced candied lemon peel
- 125 g raisins
- 125 g chopped hazelnuts
- 200 g sugar
- 250 g low-fat curd cheese
- 150 g butter
- 2 eggs
Preparation:
Mix all ingredients except butter, curd cheese, and eggs well. Press a well in the center, add 2 eggs, 1 bottle each of baking aroma rum and arrack or 4 drops of baking aroma bitter almond/lemon, curd cheese, and butter. Knead everything well. Shape into a stollen and place on a greased sheet. Bake in the preheated oven at 160° for about 40-45 minutes. While still hot, brush with melted butter and dust with powdered sugar. Wrap in aluminum foil and store cool for 3 weeks.
