The apple harvest begins in August, with the Gala variety being mainly harvested in this month. The last variety is the so-called Pink Lady, which is not picked until the beginning of November.

In South Tyrol there are about 7,000 apple farmers, each usually managing an area of three hectares. Since the climatic conditions in South Tyrol are very good, the farmers can harvest around one million tons of apples each year, which corresponds to a share of 10 percent of the total apple production within the EU. The apple harvest begins in August, with the Gala variety being mainly harvested in this month. The last variety is the so-called Pink Lady, which is not picked until the beginning of November.
