Family hike: To castles and ice holes (Überetsch)

Difficulty level: easy
Walking time: 2 hours; length: 5.8km
From a physical condition perspective not a challenge but all the more impressive is the hike from St. Michael/Eppan to the ice holes at the foot of the Gandberg. The family-friendly tour starts in the upper part of St. Michael near the ice rink. Along an easy path, a small chapel and Moss Castle can be visited.
The sign "Steinegger" then points the way to the inn of the same name. Just before reaching it, however, a path branches off, leading to the unique natural spectacle, the ice holes. In the middle of summer, impressive icicles and plants grow here in the rocks at cool temperatures, which are normally only admired from 1,200 meters above sea level.

Nature and tranquillity – but not far from the action. Modern and contemporary, but no standard thing. Attractive gourmet packages, every day, but not everyday. Authentic experiences on the subject of wine, but not just that. An oasis of well-being, but reduced to the essentials.

The Weihrerhof. My self on holiday. Some book a bathing holiday in the mountains.

A warm welcome to the traditional “Weisses Rössl” Hotel in the heart of St. Michael, the centre of the community of Eppan on the South Tyrolean Wine Route. Enjoy a well-earned break here and experience the mixture of Tyrolean hospitality and Mediterranean ambience that are the hallmarks of South Tyrol.
