The tour begins with a ride up to the Hochmuth via cable car, where the Gasthof Hochmuth is located. From there, trail no. 22 leads past the Gasthof Steinegg to the Gasthof Mutkopf at an altitude of 1,684 meters. The path continues on forest trail no. 22/23, winding over the ridge to a fork in the road. Here, keep left and follow trail no. 23, which leads over the steep eastern ridge to the summit at 2,295 meters. The effort is rewarded with a unique panoramic view of the Merano region, the surrounding peaks of the Texel Group Nature Park, the Passer Valley, the Adige Valley, and the Venosta Valley. The return journey is on the same route. A certain surefootedness is necessary for this tour.

Arrival

The approach is via the expressway from Bolzano to Merano, exit Merano Sud/Sinich, continuing towards Tyrol via the main road and Haslach Street to the valley station of the Hochmuth cable car.

Parking

Parking is available at the valley station of the Hochmuth cable car. When using the cable car, parking is free for one day, the parking garage is subject to a charge.

Public transport

You can easily reach the starting point of the hike by taking bus line 222 from Segenbühel to the Tyrolean Cross.
