At the National Park House in Trafoi starts a cozy hike to the little church of the Holy Three Fountains. According to legend, the shepherd Moritz saw three streams breaking from a rock in the 13th century. Each of these streams also bore a cross and he was able to catch two of them.

Idyllic place

One of the crosses can be admired in the church of Stilfs, the other is located in the church of St. John in Münstertal. Already in the 15th century, the place where the shepherd found the crosses became a Marian pilgrimage site, where a small chapel was also built. The springs are said to have healing powers, which is also told by the wooden prostheses that can be seen in the church. In addition, the current fountain house, which contains the statues of John, Jesus, and Mary, also tells of this legend. In front of the church or in front of the impressive mountain panorama, you can also admire a fountain with three streams.

Procession on Whit Monday

Every year on Whit Monday, the statue of Mary is carried in a procession to the church of the Holy Three Fountains and then brought back on the last Sunday in September.
