Hike to Radlsee (2196 m)

The Radlsee above the Brixen basin - 130 m long and 60 m wide - with its clear water, transparent to the stony bottom, is said to be unfathomable according to legend. A plough wheel that had sunk in the Durnholzer See in the Sarntal valley is said to have reappeared here.

The starting point of this picturesque hike is the parking lot at Kühhof above Latzfons. From there, the path initially follows a short section along the road to the Klausner Hütte. Soon you reach an open clearing, marked by a large wayside cross. Here the sign "Radlseehütte" points the way to the right and soon afterwards uphill. At the next intersection, which one also reaches if one turns right onto a steeper cart path immediately after the parking lot, keep left. The path leads through the forest to a shed, where you meet the driveway again. Follow this to the right until the second branch, then turn left and cross through light larch forest and clearings until you reach the open alpine meadows. After crossing a road at some sheds, go straight across the alpine meadows in a northeasterly direction to the Brugger Schupfe, which is not visible until late, at 2,000 meters.

To the left of the hut, trail no. 14 continues uphill to the Radlseehütte. At the next fork, turn right and follow the broad southern ridge to the west, which descends from the Königsangerspitze. Above the Munschegg, head northwest to the Radlsee and on the opposite side a short distance uphill to the Radlseehütte at 2,284 meters, which impresses with its magnificent panoramic location.

Return path:

The descent is the same way as the ascent.
