It has now become a beautiful and dear tradition, the Eisacktaler Kost, which takes place every year in March. After the big anniversary celebrations of the previous year, the Eisacktaler Kost is now in its 41st year. The idea for the gourmet festival was "born" in 1971 by Helmuth Fink and Franz Tauber, and the premiere was already celebrated in March 1972. Thus, the Eisacktaler Kost is the oldest event of its kind in South Tyrol. Over all these years, it has not lost any of its attractiveness, but on the contrary, it is more popular than ever with locals and guests.

About 20 inns and restaurants between the Brenner and the artist town of Klausen spoil their guests with specialties and dishes very much in the trend of the times. Traditional yet modern, down-to-earth yet at the same time light and elegant, typical for the region but with international flair – this is how the pleasure region Eisacktal presents itself here.

Regional and sustainably produced products are the focus. Local products, prepared according to old recipes, contemporary and innovatively refined – that is the idea behind the Eisacktaler Kost. Every year there is also a special theme for the gourmet week: most recently it was the apple, before that, among others, grain, herbs, or dairy products. This year the headline is "Dishes with History". Many traditional delicacies from grandmother's kitchen, such as wine soup, Schlutzkrapfen, Minkelen or Tirtln, can be rediscovered. In this way, this gourmet festival also reflects the development of South Tyrolean gastronomy over all the years of its existence under the respective current influences.

Gourmet Menus and Sweepstakes

On the occasion of the Eisacktaler Kost, the participating innkeepers in Gossensass, Sterzing, Pfitsch, Freienfeld, Vahrn, Natz-Schabs, Brixen, Feldthurns, Klausen, Villanders, and Villnöss offer various special deals. These range from gourmet menus with aperitifs to complete packages including overnight stays and wellness. As an additional "treat" to the culinary enjoyment, every visitor receives a small host gift and the opportunity to participate in a sweepstakes with lovely prizes.
